Rodney Smith Photography

An exhibit by Rodney Smith has come to the BYU Museum of Art. And it is delightful. There is a sort of sophisticated joy that saturates each photo. I walked through on a lunch break. I wish I had more time. But I highly recommend it. I am thinking of purchasing a few prints myself.

Oh, and by the way, I just started working at BYU as the Library's Graphics/Web Designer. Yay for me.

Nice photos... and brilliant prose. Modern art is that which nourishes the artist. It's where people can sit down and learn what goes into art. Art is an intentional combination of motifs to communicate an idea. It is a language with which the artist speaks to your intuition.

Modern art makes it very clear that the combination of ideas on the canvas, or in the photo was intentional, and the conversation which comes out of that becomes a school for other artists of all natures.

By the way, I don't see that you have on your blog here, a way in which you intend to make money. That's unfortunate. Artists, writers, filmmakers and musicians and other creative types too often neglect the business side of their work... and they end up living in poverty, and more tragically unable to have the resources to help children and teens who would need an active and successful guild to be able to mentor them as they pursue their own goals...

Ahhh... yes... I see the "Catlyst Project." I think you need to give people an opportunity to see a little bit more of what you have to offer them, before you ask them to invest to time in writing an email to you. Good luck with your business.

Zephyr,

Thank you for your thoughtful and insightful comments. I think you're right on the mark. I will have to consider ways to show exactly what I can do for a potential client. Thank you.
